The Annual “LDS Hong Kong Basketball Tournament”, one of the biggest 3-on-3 basketball competitions in Hong Kong is in its 10th anniversary this year and will take place on October 8, 2005 at the Southern Playground in Wan Chai. It is expected that over 700 young basketball enthusiasts, aged between 10 and 19, representing 180 teams, will compete for this year’s championship.

The Basketball Tournament originated from “Kwun Tong District 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament” first held in 1996 and had been supported and sponsored by the Kwun Tong District Council. With its mission to motivate youngsters to participate in wholesome activities, the Tournament has been well received by the youths, parents, and schools in the past 9 years. The enrollment for the Tournament has continued to increase over the years, jumping from 160 people (48 teams) in the first year to over 2000 people (420 teams) last year.

Organized by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, “LDS Hong Kong Basketball Tournament” aims at promoting basketball games and encouraging youngsters, through their active participation in community activities, to learn the important principles of discipline and to develop a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

The matches of the Tournament will be held in the following age groups: Youth (17-19), Teenage (15-16), Junior (13-14), Valiant (10-12), Female A (16-18), Female B (12-15).
